Alumni Spotlight - Daniel Crosier Alumni Spotlight - Daniel Crosier

"I learned how to explore the integrities of different, and sometimes off-putting materials as well as how to design projects

within your own limitations, simultaneously challenging one's self.

Ultimately, the construction of a glorious mess is key to anyone's foundation."

Daniel Crosier as The Exquisite Vanishteer

Six years ago, RMCAD Alum Daniel Crosier began to piece together the concept for "Isolation Man." He was working with other filmmakers, observing how they would resolve financial or material resources, when he realized he wanted to develop a feature film project that required no budget. Crosier shot scenes here and there until he regrouped with Dane Bernhardt, owner of Crazy Horse Studios www.crazyhorsestudios.com. Since connecting with Bernhardt, the production of Isolation Man has been running "full steam ahead."

Isolation Man is a film about super-powered human called ‘the Exquisite Vanishteer', has caused a catastrophe by making the population of the western hemisphere disappear.  The remaining eastern journalistic community interviews and follows up on the superhuman to discover his humanity… before United Nation forces move in to neutralize him.

The Vanishteer is a character with very little depth, more of an arrogant skin that is about as worldly as the 4 square feet he occupies at any given time.  He was perfect to write as a comic book and set up the premise for the film.  Much of the film consists of interviews by documentary crews from the remaining eastern hemisphere countries, performed by local actors with a hilarious range of legitimate to bad accents, all playing on the notion that when Americans think foreign, we get bad British accents from Hollywood… even if it is a period piece set in Rome, or Germany.  With that, the Vanishteer tries to relate to other worldly views with mixed results.

Since graduation, Crosier has been taking advantage of many different opportunities like exhibiting in Gallery events, creating and directing short films, creating comic books, and even building props for other's films. About his time at RMCAD, Crosier comments,

"I had two years as an illustration major, and over two years in sculpting  - finally getting my BFA.  Under Chuck Parson and the Fine Arts department, I learned how to explore the integrities of different, and sometimes off-putting materials as well as how to design projects within your own limitations, simultaneously challenging one's self.  Ultimately, the construction of a glorious mess is key to anyone's foundation. I owe much to the teachings of Chuck Parson, Martha Russo, Clark Richert, Gary Staab, and Bryan Andrews."

Isolation man will be screened at the Denver Comic Con on June 15th-17th of this year. To learn more about the Isolation Man film and to see the film's trailers, please visit www.crazyhorsestudios.com/isolationman.
